It was an afternoon filled with fun and faith at the Circus of Faith! There were about ten kids including a couple new faces from St. Michaels in attendance. The afternoon began with everyone decorating fun circus hats, these were a huge hit. The children’s creative sides definitely showed as they personalized their hats. Then it was on to face painting where each kid picked out a design to wear for the day!
After crafts were finished we moved onto lunch. Lunch consisted of delicious hotdogs and Mac ‘n’ Cheese, YUM!!! Who doesn’t like this! Of course no circus would be complete without super yummy snacks of popcorn and goldfish!
Focus then turned to tying the circus into our lives as Christians. Discussing the balance and trust needed in our everyday lives. The example used for balance is found in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven…, continuing with an example of our trust using a verse in Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all of your ways submit to Him, and he will make your paths straight.
There was a discussion on the symbolism of the three ring circus and how it relates to us as christians. In the circus there are three acts going on at once. Not unlike life, which can cause chaos, confusion, and loss of control. Compare that to the three rings of christianity – the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit we can use this to help prevent those issues in our lives.
The day concluded playing few fun games and spreading some joy by leaving positive messages on the sidewalks.
A special thank you to everyone who helped make this day possible – Dee Stam, Jenny Stam, Natalie Stam, Laura Schreier, Mya Schreier, and Karla Petges. I can’t wait to see everyone at VBS again next year, Abbey Petges.
