On Sunday, August 12, 2018, Zion and Saint Michael’s worshiped together at Merlin and Ruth Pieper’s beautiful home on Lake Sinissippi. Music was provided by Jim and Katie Gorton playing their acoustic guitars and singing. Background vocals were provided by Gods creatures, the Cicadas.
The service was attended by about 30 members, mostly from Saint Michael’s Congregation. The weather could not have been any more perfect, blue skies and plenty of sunshine. Pastor delivered another incredibly powerful and motivating sermon. Keeping everyone enthralled and ready to do the Lords work.
After the service was over almost everyone gathered for lunch. Our gracious host Ruth and Merlin provided hot dogs, brats and hamburgers with buns and al the fixings as well as various non-alcoholic beverages. Everyone else brought some delicious sides and deserts to share; coleslaw, potato salad, fruit salad, deviled eggs, pudding, poppy, cake, peach and cherry based sweets, etc… The Pipiers had tables set up for everyone to sit at and eat. It was truly wonderful. The hosts were so hospitable. Thank you.
After lunch was over. Merlin offered up a pontoon boat ride on the 2,600 plus Lake. The name, “Sinissippi,” comes from an Algonquin phrase, “sinsepe,” which means “lake-like river.” Six of us took advantage of the opportunity and were treated to the sights and history of the lake; resident wildlife, various islands and structures a restaurant, The Tiki Bar, which many residents go to her local bands perform There was even a few stories about the DNR and some of the politics involved in building structures on the lake. After about 30 to 45 minutes we returned back to the Pipier’s beautiful home where we found whomever was left playing bingo.
